(A) 5
(B) 5 ½
(C) 6
(D) 8

(B) 4
(C) 6
(D) 3

10. Sumit purchased an item for Rs.6,500 and sold it at a gain of 24%. From that amount he purchased another item and sold it at a loss of 20%. What is his overall gain/loss?
(A) Loss of Rs.42
(B) Gain of Rs.42
(C) Loss of Rs.52
(D) Neither gain nor loss

1. (A)
Workdone by A and B in 1 day = 1/18
Workdone by B and C in 1 day = 1/24
Workdone by C and A in 1 day = 1/36
so Workdone by 2(A, B and C) in 1 day = 1/18 + 1/24 + 1/36 = 9/72
so Workdone by A, B and C in 1 day = 9/(72*2) = 9/144 = 1/16
so all of them together complete the work in 16 days.

2. (C)
Workdone by (A + B) in 1 day = 1/72
Workdone by (B + C) in 1 day = 1/120
Workdone by (C + A) in 1 day = 1/90
so Workdone by 2(A + B + C) in 1 day = 1/72 + 1/120 + 1/90 = 1/30
so Workdone by (A + B + C) in 1 day = 1/(30*2)  = 1/60
so Workdone by (A + B + C) in 3 day = = 1/60 *3 = 1/20

3. (C)
A can complete 2/3 of a work in 4 days
A can complete the whole of a work in (4*3)/2 = 6 days
similarly B can complete the whole of a work in (6*5)/3 = 10 days
so Workdone by A and B in 1 day = 1/6 + 1/10 = 4/15
so Days taken by A and B to complete the whole work = 15/4 = 3(3/4)

4. (C)
Ratio of share of A,B c = ratio of 1 day's work
= 1/15 : 1/20 : 1/24
= 120*1/15:120*1/20 : 120*1/24 = 8:6:5
so sum of ratio turms = 8+6+5 = 19
so The share of C = 76*5/19 = Rs.20

5. (C)

6.(D); Let the numbers be x, x + 2, x + 4, x+6 and x + 8
According to the question,
x + x + 2 + x + 4 + x + 6 + x + 8=170
or 5x + 20 = 170
or x + 4 = 34
or x = 30.
Second largest No. = 30 + 6 = 36
Square of smallest No. = 900
Sum of these Nos. = 900 + 36 = 936

7.(D);

8.(C);

9.(A);I = 25000 ×3/20  = 3750,  r =  (3750*100)/75000 = 5%

10.(C); Second selling price  = 6500 * 124/100 *80/100  = 6448
Loss => 6500 – 6448 = Rs. 52
