Answers with explanations :

1. (E) Let the number be 10x + y
x + y = 12 and x – y = 6 =>x = 9 and y = 3
or, x =3 and y = 9
Hence the no. may be 93 or 39.

2.(C) The amount each would get = 74336/50
= Rs. 496 (App.)

3. (B) Total amount invested = 2100 * 23/6 = Rs. 8050
Annual investment =Rs. 8050*12 = 96,600

4. (B) Let the cost of 1 metre of cloth be Rs. x.
(x + 10) * 145 = 12325 =>145x + 1450 = 12325
x = (12325-1450)/145=Rs.75

5. (A) Total no. of candles = 14 * 7 * 12 = 1176

6. 1
Average height of the class
= {18 (117 * 18 + 13)/18 + 21 (104 * 21 + 13)/21}/(18 + 21)
= (2119 + 2197)/ 39 = 332/3 = 110 2/3cm

7. D
Required answer = {6 * 4(2-1)}/{2*6-4} = 24/(12 - 4) = 24/8 = 3 hrs

8.B
Required time = LCM of 21, 18, 24 min = 504 mins = 8.4 hrs

9. E
Let the present age of murali and malli  be 18x and 17x respectively
(18x - 9)/(17x - 9) = 15/14 =>252x – 126 = 255x – 135
3x = 9  => x = 3
lilly ’s present age = 17× 3 – 9 = 42 years

10. D
Ratio of profit P, Q and R
= 24000 × 24 : 32000 × 24 : 30000 × 16 = 6 : 8 : 5
Share of R = 5/19 × 91200 = Rs. 24000
